  • After a number of earthquakes hammer the Sierra Madre region of Mexico, Grupo Verdugo, a splinter group of cartel enforcers, takes control of the drug shipping routes through that territory. Caught in the middle, a small orphanage high in the mountains, desperate for supplies to care for the children and the battered earthquake victims, reaches out to Abel Yeager for help.
Yeager and his friend Victor agree to deliver the needed food and medicine. But Grupo Verdugo seems to have a special interest in starving out the clergy and forcing them to bend to their will. They send a man known as the Executioner to stop anyone daring to assist the people.
Yeager and Victor are in for the biggest fight of their lives as they are forced to move 40 children, a dozen sick and injured patients, and one feisty doctor out of the mission and through mountains infested with vicious killers.
  • My Thoughts:
  • After devouring book 1, I eagerly jumped into this, and have to say that it was better than ever!! Victor asks Yeager to help him bring much needed food and medical equipment to an orphanage that has been cut off from help because of earthquakes. After the earthquake and with the police's attention elsewhere, a drug cartel have claimed the routes to and from the orphanage as theirs. They are not letting trucks through, so Victor’s cousin, a priest at the orphanage, enlists Victor and Yeager to help them. While sounding perilous, Yeager doesn't think it will be too much of a problem and agrees to help. Little does he know what's in store for him!!
Poor Yeager, he is just settling down with Charlie, in a quiet country house, when Victor comes knocking. He can't refuse to help him so agrees. He ends up going to a remote area to help the orphanage, but ends up in a fight for, not only his life, but the life of all the people in the orphanage! He is once again, an outstanding hero!!!
Charlie, meanwhile, is in her own fight for her life! Someone isn't happy with the events of the first book and wants revenge. With Yeager gone, can Charlie survive and keep herself and her son live?
Once again, Scott Bell has written another amazing and action packed adventure!! This book has so much going for it! So many twists and turns, it's not all action either, there are different stories weaved throughout and we see them all come together seamlessly at the end. Brilliant!
    J. Scott Bennett was amazing as always!! He has so many accents and tones that it is always a pleasure to listen to his work. He makes it feel like more than one narrator is narrating! He also knows how to tell a story!!! He puts so much expression and emotion behind his characters, that they feel real. Highly recommend you check out his work!
